Woolloomooloo - Queensbay

Woolloomooloo... Wool-loom-moo-loo, yes it's a mouthfull to say, but it's a name that makes this restaurant special :) This is a new restaurant serving Aussie style cuisine. The chef was previously working in Austalia and has since returned home to Penang.

TOday, I had dinner there. And the best part was that it currently has a promotion going-on on their meals - Buy 1 Free 1. How awesome it that!  ;D

I ordered 2 main courses.

The first was Rich Beef & Cabernet Casserole with mash (RM26)

Very good chucky pieces of beef - all meat, no tendons! The gravy, just right. Only wished the beef was more tender. But all in all a decent main course.

Next-up was Polenta Fried Chicken (RM24) - i got this one FOC

Crispy fried chicken pieces with creamy sour sauce, gives a good balance to the fried chicken. The chicken itself was still moist despite being fried. Yum!

And since they were giving out free membership cards, I got a bowl of soup FOC too! How amazeballs is that!

Mushroom soup

The soup of the day was Mushroom soup. Their version of this commonly served soup is abit different from the ordinary. For one thing, the soup contains potato starch mixed into it. And for another, they include chucky pieces of mushroom.

Lastly, I ordered 2 desserts to savour.

Red Wine Glazed Pear - their signature dish (RM9.90)
and Homemade Creme Bruleé (RM6.90)

The pear was  infused with sweet red wine - simple and elegant

Homemade creme bruleé - dusted with icing sugar

The creme bruleé was rather disappointing as the top was dusted with icing sugar and not melted with a blow torch. Ok, i know it's their homemade version and not the actual French style creme bruleé. I suppose I'm used to the original kind :P
