Baci @ Citta Mall, PJ

Back to blogging about food!

I went to Citta Mall the other day, for reasons that warrants another blogpost. (me trying to create anticipation.. hehe) After the main agenda, I was hungry and looked around for a nice eatery for a late, late lunch.

This is where i stumbled upon Baci! I remember having a member's card for Italliannis called 'Pinch of Salt' with the logo Baci on the back affiliated with the card. This means I could collect / redeem points at Baci too! Yay!

So Baci for lunch it is.

I was feeling a pasta craving coming along... so I ordered the Spaghetti Beef Carbonara from their Pasta selection.

Here's what came... it looked delightful. Mouth watering... and yummy for my tummy.

At Baci, they also offer coffee and sandwiches....

And free self-service plain water...

This meal cost me RM17.90, no service tax because it's self-service... I like!

Kaffa Expresso Bar @ Green Hall, Penang

 

Penang is a brimming with new and classy café houses. Here, there and everywhere you can see nice and sometimes quirky cafés offering good food and aromatic coffees. One such place is Kaffa Espresso Bar. It is the second outlet in Malaysia and the Penang one is situated at 22 Jalan Green Hall.

 Like I mentioned earlier, they offer drinks AND food... although the selection for food is limited. I went on a weekend... and there were already many tables taken...Had to wait for my food...

Caramel Macchiato

 I ordered a highly recommended drink (i think I read it on foursq) called the Caramel Macchiato which cost a bomb! It came in a enamel coated metal mug to give it that vintage look. Well, almost all their coffees are served in it. I personally didn't think much of the metal mugs... except that my mug had the enamel chipped off over the rim of the mug and that had me drinking rusty bits of the mug rim.. not a big fan of the mug...  :(

 

Like the name of the drink, this caramel macchiato was light in coffee taste (just the way I like) and sweet salty from the caramel... though on the pricey side..

As for food, I ordered the Spaghetti Aglio Olio with turkey ham. The portion was big (Thumbs up for that) and tasty :) However, I found mine too spicy... could taste a lot of the chilli & black pepper in it...

Loved the interior décor of the place. Environment was relaxing, except when the place gets crowded and noisy...

Bread History @ Queensbay

 

These day, bakeries have started with a one-stop eat concept. And Bread History is one of them. Bread History outlet at Queensbay mall doubles as a cafe on top of being a bakery. I recently went there for lunch and I tried out their set lunches.

 

They had set A and set B

Set A costs RM9.90 for a choice of pasta and coffee or tea

Set B was RM19.90 for choices from their chicken selection (poultry) - if i'm not mistaken... Dun worry, the waitress will explain the menu as you sit down and she hands you the menu :)

 

So, we choice one set A and one set B

 

The set A we chose was Spaghetti bolognese with hot coffee...and for set B, we picked chicken gordon blue, with iced tea.

The spaghetti sauce was tasty and had pieces of meanced meat. This was good. And at only RM9.90, what a great deal.

The chicken gordon blue was also another great choice. It came with the same sauce as would the chicken chop choice. So, it wasn't dry. The batter was crisp, thin and light. Just the way anything fried in batter should be!! Very impressed.

The chicken (like the dish name suggests) was stuffed with ham and cheese. Really good amounts of ham and cheese was found in my stuffed chicken. Happy about that! :)

So my opinion is that this set thinggy is a good deal! Value for money
 

Abbey Road Bistro

Now there's one place in Seberang Jaya that can boast of good fine dining food... in my opinion.
That place i'm talking about is Abbey Road Bistro.
It's supposedly named after the Beatles' 11th studio album.

Oh yeah, this is one bistro that is adorned with alot and i mean, a lot of Beatles memorabilia; mainly pictures and posters. And they also have playing on loop, the Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" movie! (well, at least that afternoon that I was there anyway)

Now down to the food...

They don't offer set lunches, so everything is ala chart.

 

The other thing is that the water they offer is called Ionized water and they charge RM2 per glass!! (speechless)

First order for the day is Wild Mushroom Soup with Truffle oil.

The soup was creamy and packed with mushrooms which made the soup interesting and tasty. It also had a hint of truffle that made it even better. (RM18)

We ordered two main courses. A pasta dish and a chicken dish.

I ordered the Meatballs Concasse Spaghetti (RM28). The best part and most surprising was the Meatballs!! No kidding! These meatballs were handmade and simple delicious. It complimented the spaghetti very well. Frankly speaking, if they'd sell just the meatballs, i'd order it anytime. The meatballs were tender and moist. Not dry unlike most meatballs. And tasty!!

 

Oh, and did i mention that the meatballs were big? Yes they were. Still, the price for a spaghetti dish is a bit too pricey for me.

 

Next-up was the chicken dish.

 

 This was the Grilled Boneless Chicken. It came with mashed potates and green peas. The sauce was nevertheless tasty too! Chicken tender and marinated well. RM29

THe trip all the way to Seberang Jaya was worth my palate, but not my pocket. The food was great and tasty!! But still abit too pricey for me though. Still, Abbey Road Bistro is one place to try out whenever you find yourself on the other side of Penang :)
