Merry Christmas 2013

Christmas was especially awesome because of the super AWESOME presents I got this year!!

Thanks to my brother in Singapore! And, like me, he also got my parents gifts, all the way from Singapore.

Better yet, this year, I get to spend new year's in Singapore!!! So excited !!

Singapore spells SHOPPING more than anything :) I'm really pumped!

Here's this year's Christmas tree - one word : Beautiful

Under the tree were all the pretty and colourfully wrapped xmas presents.
I especially was excited over this pink one! (because it's mine)
My Christmas present wrapped in pretty pink

This year, we opened all our presents on Christmas day itself, as tomorrow, we all will be flying to Singapore for a whole week!! Yahooo!!

The 'Yahoo' was for BOTH the fact that presents were opened on Christmas day AND the fact that holidaying in SINGAPORE was actually happening TOMORROW - boxing day :))

So what DID I get for Christmas this year?

The new IPad MINI 2!!!!
So damn happy!! Thanks to my brother!
And yes, he got my parents THE new IPad Air too!!!

So super psych-ed! Really thrilled that Christmas 2013 was such a blessing!
Hope everyone else is having an AWESOME Christmas 2013 too!
God Bless :)

I mum mum restaurant @ All Seasons, Farlim

I mum mum restaurant has finally opened an outlet at All seasons, Farlim.

They offer yummy Chinese noodle my surprise, at quite reasonable prices. If I remember correctly, each noodle bow was about RM5 only... and the add-ons (ie ala charte) is probably less than that... super economical :)

Drinks we ordered: Chrysanthemum tea, chilled.
Dessert: Black jelly with lemon... the jelly was quite hard and chewy, unlike the usual.

Our orders were as such...

Beef noodles (dry)

Curry chicken with noodles

We added wanton soup
We felt that the noodles were particularly hard and chewy like their black grass jelly. Although we did specify to cook the noodles a little longer to make it softer... I guess the chef didn't get the memo. or rather, he ignored the memo altogether... (sigh)

Having said that, there wasn't any other thing wrong with the noodle dishes we had. I kinda enjoyed them... Just had to exercise my jaw more for the hard (probably half-cooked) noodles. Luckily, no indigestion...

Green Island Western Food @ The One, Bayan Baru

Green Island western food restaurant has been opened for a year now, with them celebrating their 1 year anniversary in October. I've been to this restaurant a number of times now, and have been wanting to blog about it ever since.
They are located in the row of shop houses in Bayan Baru called The One. It's a two-storey shop house serving western food. Their food is very affordable and they probably serve one of the cheapest drinks in town! (for a restaurant). And to top it all off, their service is super quick! Definitely three thumbs up! :)

Cheap drinks :)
On top of their reasonably priced food items, they also offer Set Lunches.

Here's what we ordered...
Mushroom soup for only RM1 (as an add-on for their set lunch)

My White coffee (cold) was quite a big glass and it only cost RM2.50
As mentioned earlier, their drinks are quite value for money. The White coffee (cold) I ordered, only cost RM2.50 per glass and mind you, that was a reasonably big glass, with a medium amount of ice. Unlike most restaurants, which charge more, and give you even more ice than drink, this restaurant really serves cheap, money worthy drinks :)

Next-up, our mains...

Grilled Fish with mushroom sauce

Chicken with thai sauce (top left corner), Grilled fish with black pepper sauce (top right corner)

The fish that they serve is not the usual Dory fish. This place offers Tilapiah fish ie fresh water fish, which is something different.

The overall experience was ok. But I was impressed at the quick service and cheap drinks :)
What do you think? Let me know :)

Kampai @ E-gate

Kampai is a fairly new restaurant that has taken the place of Tao Restaurant which moved to Times square Penang.
We visited this place for lunch the other day.
A simple restaurant, good for families to visit and have a meal on days you're just too lazy to cook, but want a quick meal...

Here's a look-around of how the place looks like...

There are seats with chairs to lean back and tables with just stools...most of the tables with chairs are usually fully taken... so, we got the ones with the stools...

Here's the menu.. they serve set lunches too!

We ordered 2 set lunches... one was the 3 cup chicken RM9.90 ++
3 cup chicken
The other was this Fish Fillet RM9.90 ++
Fish Fillet
The chicken set was nice... but the fish fillet was dry and skimpy... but what'd you expect for only RM9.90 right? All in all, the set lunches are a deal!

They also serve ala charte dishes too! to be eaten with white rice, of course.

Try it out ...  :)

The Body Shop Haul 2013

The Body Shop was having its latest sales for the year 2013, and I managed to get myself two items at 50% off!! (made my buys on the 20th October 2013)

The two items are: The White Musk Libertine by Leona Lewis! Smells really nice... sweet and yet sensual! I've always liked Leona Lewis from the X-factor UK.I also happen to like the nice colourful pink pattern on the bottle :)

The original price for this bottle of 30ml was RM75 and I got it for RM37.50

Next I got was The Body Shop Sakura body lotion... also in a sweet pink. This is my favourite of all! I simply love love love the scent! So fresh and calming!! And guess what! It was originally RM 14.90 and I got it for half off! Super deal!

And it's made in the UK...  :)

HardRock Café Penang

Penang has its very own Hard ROCK café! Like many of their outlets, this one is as awesome! To be honest, I have been wanting to dine at hardrock cafes since undergrad. Or rather, since getting envious of my brother who has been to various Hardrock cafés throughout the world! like the one in Bali, Phuket, Singapore... etc.
So I thought to myself, let's just start in Malaysia first... and lo and behold, Hardrock opens one in Penang. Right at my door step! hehe. Somethings are just meant to be...

On the of the many Fridays in October, on the 11th of October to be exact, a bunch of  peeps from work got together to have a good Hardrock café.
I was there mainly for the food... the rest were there for the drinks and the live band. The gang reserved tables just right infont of the stage just to gawk at the live band whom they thought were playing that night.

I ordered their avocado club sandwich... which cost RM30++ and was pretty disappointing when it arrived. THe description in the menu was a whole lot of something else... but the food was another thing to be desired. Anyway, the sandwich was so-so la... with dry chicken breast, hard bacon amd avocado, and lettuce.. sandwiched between toasts... I could have been this at home :(
OK, nvm.. told myself I was here to enjoy the HArdRock experience...!

The gang ordered drinks... which I couldn't take because I don't drink.. and don't like the taste of alcohol... pathetically, I just drank the fruit juice (which I only just found out was called 'mixer' to be mixed with the alcohol).. which was ok..

At 10.30pm, the live band started! *excited*

A group of peeps with 3 main singers taking turns singing main solos and being back-ups, 2 guitarist (one bass, one melody), 1 keyboard, 1 drummer...

The girls were disappointed it wasn't the actual band that they had front row tables for. Our initial impressions were that they were gonna be not up to par. But when they started singing, boy they ROCKED the crowd!! They were super AWESOME! The ang-mos were holding up their handphone and lighters swaying to the music they were playin'. Most started singing along to the rock songs they were playing.... Amongst the songs played was Adele's - Someone like you, Set fire to the rain, Bon Jovi's - Living on a prayer, Oasis'- Stop crying your heart out, Tina turner's - The best... and many more!!!

This band CAN SING! I loved their vocals!! SUper PRO!! I was quite impressed! Only problem was that, because we had front row seats, I was fast going deaf.... the music was too loud...just too LOUD for my liking. I know you peeps reading this would be rolling your eyes saying "you're in a nightclub, and a rock club to be precise; music's suppose to be played LOUD"... I know, I know... believe me.. I KNOW... but to me, my hearing is more important than looking cool at a night club. So I let about 11pm... (pathethic, I know).

On the upside, I managed to get the Hardrock experience I've always wanted... and I did feel cool in a nightclub.. and I can safely say I was 'rocking' it out at HardRock café, no doubt :)

Brownie RM30 ++

Loved this dessert... YUMMEH

The ambiance of the night... HardRock Café Penang

Malaysia IT Fair @ SPICE, Bayan Baru - IT haul

Colourful bags of my IT fair Haul
Once again, SPICE or better known as Subterranean Penang International Convention & Exhibition Centre.. also formerly known as PISA is hosting another computer/IT fair called the Malaysian IT Fair 2013.
My loot from the IT fair
It was held from 18-20th of October 2013. And I managed to go there on their last day. It's usual for the prices to be brought down further on the last day of the fair, hence the super duper large amount of patrons at the SPICE that day... me included!

I was hunting for bargains on pendrives, since I've been needing a way to transfer my data from my 'clean' computer to other 'not-so-safe' computers. Also, my car now uses the thumbdrive for mp3s as well as my LG flat-screen.. which also can project photos... !! See, the many many uses of the pendrive these days... And I need to make sure there's no virus going round! So, I concluded, I needed more pendrives.. the more the merrier :)

This TOSHIBA flash drive cost me RM18

This PenDrive cost RM21

The back of both the TOSHIBA & PenDrive boxes

This PNY USB Drive has got to be the most expensive buy of the day costing RM26!!
I suppose you pay for the design and size...
I found this super handy... ad felt a little cheated when I picked this up for RM8 and found another stall selling it in black for RM7.  All along, I wanted the black, and there it was selling at another shop for even cheaper! and in the colour I wanted!! Goes to show that you DO need to shop around before buying... the best deals are always found at the very last of shops.. hehe
I didn't take a close-up picture of the black USB charger because i'd already taken it out of the box and started using it :)

This year, the craze was about Western Digital's new Passport external hard drive 500MB going for RM169 with the latest password feature. The older model also for 500MB without the password feature was going for only RM155. I figured I didn't need the extra space as I already have 3 external hard drives at home, all not fully utilised. So, I was content with my pendrive haul for this time round :)

Total expenditure: RM7 + RM8 + RM18 + RM26 + RM21 = RM80
